Why sustainable giving?
We are looking to turn the tables on the traditional model of charity. We want to make sure that as much benefit as possible is derived from every dollar of donations we receive for the long-term, and we believe the best way to do this is to not send your money straight to the projects you’re supporting.
When you become a DevA member you are not simply giving a one-off donation to a charity. You are contributing to a fund through which every single donation has the power to generate returns that can benefit communities and change lives indefinitely. Essentially your donation goes to work the day we receive it so it can continue to produce results for our partner communities. The flowchart on the right illustrates this process.
How does it work?
Your donated dollars are directed to an ethical investment fund. Year after year your initial donation will remain in the fund (capital), generating funds which will be systematically distributed to our partner projects. As the pool of capital grows with increased donations and new members coming on board, so too does the earning power of each donation and the amount we're able to commit to our partners and their communities.
This model allows DevA to commit to supporting partner projects on a long-term basis and ensures we can consistently honour the commitments we have made for support, regardless of the number of donations received in any given period.
Regular, sustainable giving is vitally important as we are supporting organisations that provide long-term care and support for children, families and communities.
