The Development Accord

Who we are

The shaping of DevA

A group of professionals, we started out waxing lyrical about ways to do charity differently, and about the possibilities of harnessing the power of the economic system to benefit the poor. We were determined to provide a platform for long-term, sustainable giving.

After more than five years of research, investigation and consultation with industry professionals, development and aid agencies both here in Australia and overseas, the concept began to take shape.  In early 2009 we visited community development projects in Zambia and in 2010 visited Cambodia to learn more about kinship and foster care and family-based care models for vulnerable children.  In May 2010, Development Accord (DevA) was registered as a charity with the Australian Taxation Office and our first financial supporters joined us.

The ultimate goal

The disparity between the lives most of us live here in Australia and the lives of many of those living in developing nations is undeniable, and we believe unnecessary. Development Accord was created by a group of individuals; friends with a shared vision to play our part in addressing this disparity and see the end of global and extreme poverty.

The DevA fund exists to provide donors the opportunity to not only give, but also to watch their gift continue to give over time, which in turn allows us to plan and reliably allocate support to our partner projects overseas. We refer to it as sustainable giving for sustainable development, and at DevA our goal is to have every donation giving for life. The online portal allows our members to easily track all donations and the impact they are having on our partner projects.

We have established DevA as a platform for people to come together and pool their resources in partnership, for the benefit of the world's poor.

We'd love for you to join us.
