Launch Celebrates Development Accord Success

On 20th of October, Development Accord celebrated its official launch at the Wynnum-Manly Leagues Club. Almost 100 guests dressed for the jazz theme of the night as we enjoyed a 4 piece band and a 3 course meal. The celebration proved a chance to meet and greet those in our local community both interested in and committed to supporting our work.

Special guests included our local councillor Peter Cummings and Wynnum Seagulls Captain Luke Daziel-Don. The community support for the launch was widespread including advertising from the local Wynnum Herald and generous support from local businesses. Daziel-Don Financial Services acted as the night’s corporate sponsor. The Wynnum Leagues club donated their function room and numerous lucky door prizes for the night.

Local patch-work guild coordinator Judy Williams donated a beautifully hand-crafted quilt for the night’s silent auction. Local artist Joanne Harvey donated pieces of artwork to be auctioned on the night and Manly Harbour Florist donated an elegant bag and jewellery set. These items raised $821 to be invested in Development Accord Fund, supporting Children in Families overseas.

Development Accord Director Nathan Sullivan shared about our unique funding model and our passion for sustainable giving to our room of guests.  Amy Sullivan represented our partner organisation Children in Families in her presentation about family-based care in the developing world. Both these presentations sparked many interesting conversations amongst the guests as they outlined our passion for best practice in overseas communities and our enthusiasm for ingenuity in western funding models.

The DevA launch was a wonderful success in celebrating all that has been achieved in the creation of the Development Accord fund and in capturing our future vision for the future. Thank you to all those who came to support us on the night, who signed up to join us on the journey and to those who generously donated  to Development Accord. Your support will continue to give…for life!
